Rodney Bingenheimer is currently a DJ on KROQ - FM (Los Angeles). He was a Davey Jones Stand In on a long ago Monkees TV Show episode. Before and after that moment, Rodney was a "Professional Friend," a fringe figure on the West Coast Silver Sixties Rock Scene.

Some people called him a Male Groupie.... Some people like me, in the Music Business, called him a friend.

Yes, RODNEY IS MY FRIEND ! But I am not a friend of the Back Stage Ballet / Back Room Melodramas that have become the basis of doing business with the powers to be on "The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip" film.

KIM FOWLEY WAS THE 1ST MAYOR OF THE SUNSET STRIP IN 1968. I used it as a promo device / nickname to get into Sunset Strip clubs and meet new female arrivals in Psychedelic Tinsel Town.

When I moved to Helsinki, Finland in 1970.... I gave Rodney permission to use MY Mayor Of The Sunset Strip name, because it made no sense to any one in the far Scandinavian North.

I was a self appointed Mayor. Rodney has been the new Mayor since 1970. Rodney really worked "it" ; Making friends with Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and various Beatles for the last 34 years.

In 1997 I was invited to be filmed, for the Movie "The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip". I was flown in from New Orleans and paid for my time and talent as an on screen actor.

"The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip" movie, was finished in 2003 , 6 YEARS IN THE MAKING ! "Gone With The Wind", "Wizard Of Oz" and "Citizen Kane".... Did NOT take 6 years . Is "Mayor" a better movie? It's a matter of taste. You be the judge. "Mayor" has played on The Festival / Screening Circuit in Hollywood - Toronto - London - New York City to mixed reviews.

Each time, each screening... The "Final Cut" appears to slightly change... So who knows what the Final - Final Version may be... When it gets North American release in March 04'.

Kim Fowley was FALSE ALARMED ! .... To attend Toronto - London - NYC Screenings. Various friends / busy bodies reported: "Different Edits / Cuts / Content" . Hopefully the Final Product will be Fair and Balanced. Minus Ridicule and Scrutiny.

According to 21st Century Grape Vine Chatter, there are additional "Mayor" Spinoffs : DVD Cut of "Mayor", "The Making Of Mayor" (Showtime ?), "The Mayor Of The Sunset 2", a Warner Bros. Feature Film about Rodney's life with actors playing the roles of Rodney's friends and enemies. Also, is there a Soundtrack album ? Probably.

Kim Fowley doesn't want to be depicted in the Rodney Warner Bros. Flick... But if I was paid REAL MONEY, I would recommend either Crispin Glover or Bruce Willis, or even Quentin Tarantino, to play Kim Fowley. Even Peaches could play Kim as a long shot casting concept ! Either Iggy Pop or Michael Jay Fox could play Rodney.

No folks, Kim Fowley does NOT resent Rodney for having a Film Career. Kim doesn't want to be Categorized - Explained - Justified or Marginalized by Whim Editing or Incomplete After - The - Fact Product Promotion and Publicity.

Speaking of "Mayor": Kim Fowley was false alarmed, as an actor, about Post Production Promo Possibilities and was double talked about Final Cut Content.

Meanwhile, having 7 new Kim Fowley songs written and recorded for "Mayor" .... but not used.... I chose to release these songs World Wide ! I got lucky when Weed Records (Runt Distribution) said: "YES" ! The album containing these 7 songs is scheduled for late January 04' release !
